Arena Structures is Cheltenham Festival Favourite
The 2009 Cheltenham Festival opened with a great day’s racing, banishing all thoughts of recession or memories of last years’ bad weather. With 200,000 visitors expected over the four day festival this March, Arena Structures ongoing relationship with the Cheltenham Festival was cemented with the signing of a contract extension through to 2013.
Arena Structures has been working closely with the race-course management for many years, but in the potentially difficult climate of 2009 Managing Director Grahame Muir and Project Director Ron Smith were particularly keen to support the event and add value to the overall experience. Following liaison with the corporate hospitality stakeholders, changes were implemented to ensure the three main temporary structures hosting corporate hospitality guests were the best combination the course had ever installed.
Grahame Muir said:
“The strength of our mutual respect with the organisers is reflected in the new five year contract extension, which allows us to focus all our efforts in supplying them the strongest, most imaginative temporary facilities over the coming years.
“This year’s Cheltenham Festival has shown that, while the economic situation has lowered attendance figures by 5 – 10% in some areas, there is still a strong event offering with a sustained demand for these iconic sporting events. I feel it our duty to support the event organisers and hospitality providers to add value to their event where-ever possible without increasing budgets.”
The introduction of Arena’s newest two storey ‘Horizon’ 20m by 30m structure added an improved environment for the Keith Prowse ‘Front Runners’ facility, featuring first floor suites with balconies and the upper floor glass fronted restaurant giving impressive views over the finishing straight. Adjacent to that facility was the 10m by 27m four-storey Arena Scene boxes and a 15m by 110m glass fronted triple-deck hospitality suites. Arena were creative in producing stunning interior décor in all the boxes and all facilities came with fitted kitchens, luxury toilets and bespoke entrances.
Arena Group company Spaceworks supplied a range of contemporary furniture for the different hospitality areas on the course.
