Aintree hospitality record
Comply or Die, ridden by Timmy Murphy and trained by David Pipe triumphed at the 2008 John Smith's Grand National; the other winners were the capacity crowds who enjoyed watching the racing from record breaking facilities.
Arena Structures raised the bar for the corporate hospitality guests at this years’ meeting, providing the World’s largest triple deck temporary hospitality facility. Arena Projects Director Ron Smith managed the production of the luxurious three storey structure overlooking the course at an incredible 135m long, creating a prestigious 8,175m² venue that hosted up to 3,000 people per day.
This world beating hospitality facility was located adjacent to the recently developed permanent course facilities, (two new grandstands, the winners enclosure and Aintree Pavilion). It underlined the organisers commitment to giving visitors the best possible experience at this year’s three day meeting.
Arena Structure’s construction manager Jason Stockwell supervised two teams over a nine week construction period, overcoming some challenging winds to construct the gigantic structure. As part of the 12,000m² of temporary overlay provided by Arena Structures, the record breaking hospitality structure had full temperature control and beech hard walled internal panels. Attention to design and creative finishing meant it looked great and allowed a flexible layout to suit the client’s requirements, ranging from large hospitality restaurants for 300 people to bespoke suites for more intimate parties of 30. With two extensive kitchens, (10m x 40m and 15m x 20m) incorporated into the back of the structure all food was served freshly to guests, which required particular attention to fire safety by the Arena team.
Aintree’s operations manager Zoe Greenall commented:
“Arena Structures work to the highest standards but are always looking for ways to improve their products, they contribute a crucial part of our course infra-structure. It has been a pleasure working through the process of combining previously separate hospitality structures to create this incredible new triple-decker structure for the 2008 John Smith’s Grand National.”
